The Beauty of Kun Faya Kun Song: A must in your collection
The Kun Faya Kun song (from the movie Rockstar) is perhaps one of those pieces in which music is in its interactive best. The song, somewhere in between, stands up to interact to you and your inner self. The trilogy of the lyrical beauty, the melody & the soul of the listener gets completed and next thing you notice is a great sense of tranquility floating in the sea of self content and rejuvenation within yourself.
This song, arguably matches the likes of Maula Maula (from Delhi 6 fame) and I am pretty sure that the listeners wouldn’t fail to connect to it. For me, it carries a message, that life is simple and sometimes beyond your control. Respect it to live it to the fullest.
Meaning of Kun Faya Kun
Kun Faya Kun means: " Be, and it is".
It's an Arabic term mentioned in Quran which means when God Almighty intends some work to be done. He just says Kun (Be)and it is done already.

Superbug NDM - 1: A genuine concern or an attempt to sabotage the growing medical tourism in India
- Firstly the name, NDM - 1 ( New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1) itself does the major work when several resistant bacterias are present else where in the world. Many of them were not named after the cities they were found in!!! Come on, Delhi can be associated with good reasons if not deadly!
- Secondly, funding by EU ( European Union) which is indeed a discourtesy to a nation as a whole because ideally it should have been a joint research with a proper track on local partners. I don't know whether there exists a protocol for such studies bit I am forced to think that even if it would have existed, it wouldn't have been followed.
- And lastly, as reported in few tabloids, the authors have admitted to have received financial support from pharma majors like GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca and Pfizer through the period of the project. The study authors suggest that only GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca still have strong antibiotic development programmes.

India won but the nation lost!
I am one of the millions who celebrated the whole night when India won the coveted World Cup 2011. This sweet memory is going to last forever in my mind but so is the pain and stigma related to it.
- A direct impact on a reduced budget for sectors like education. And I guess, I need not highlight the importance of education across gender, age, caste and other forms of differentiating factors our society can come up with! An additional burden on government exchequer (due to reasons ranging from corruption to such cash rewards) has become a rhetoric now for sure.
- A possible discontentment for cricketers with in the team hailing from a backward state which cannot match up (in terms of the amount of reward) with the prosperous states like Punjab.
- Sports person who made India proud in other fields like Chess, Badminton, Tennis et al might not be particularly elated to see windfall of such magnitude for cricketers. Though I doubt they will be surprised.
- And lastly, this is sets up a wrong example and send a clear unwanted message to the cricketers who are backed by one of the richest sports body in the world. I do not want my bunny's to jump only when they see a golden carrot.Cricketers are supposed to play cricket, which they did. They performed well and a good performance calls in for a bonus which is the World Cup prize money itself (US$ 3 million, source Wikipedia confirmed by wiki leaks) Coming from a compensation background, I stick my neck out and dare say that BCCI should revamp its rewards policy and should rather consider focusing on some CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility)!

My wish list for 2011. What about yours?
- Fewer Scams ( fewer only because corruption, I believe, cannot be zero) and sure shot punishment for the guilty.
- Stronger & a broader economy which can withstand temporary turmoils and create greater opportunities.
- International agreement on the issue of permanent seat for India in UNSC.
- Safety.Enough of terrorism and riots. Value life. Period.
- Cricket world cup 2011.India should win it as it might just be a world cup swan song for Sachin Tendulkar.
